Pre-Conference Tutorial
Pre-conference Workshop on Design, Fabrication and Testing of Freeform Optical Components
by Prof WB Lee, Dr Benny Cheung, Dr Jin Bo Jiang and Dr Sandy To
from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University
27 July 2010
9.00 am - 5.00pm
Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel ,Singapore
About the Workshop :
Aspheric and freeform optical components are critical components used in photonics, telecommunication products such as mobile phone cameras, laser printers, hand-held scanners, LED backlight modules, optical fiber connectors as well as LED lighting products. The market for those components is huge and growing. For the fabrication of precision optics, ultra-precision machining is an enabling technology that allows the designed optics to be fabricated with sub-micrometer form accuracy and nanometric surface finish without the need for any subsequent polishing.
The aim of this workshop is to provide an excellent opportunity for the participants to assimilate the latest know-how and practices in the design, fabrication, and measurement of precision optics for imaging as well as illumination applications and practical examples of design and fabrication on industrial optical products will also be demonstrated.
