The Sustainability and Technology Assessment (STA) section supports sustainability-based decision-making in the innovation and adoption of new manufacturing technologies. The scope of work includes the sustainability measures, life cycle cost and environment modellng and analysis, eco-efficiency of manufacturing systems, green product development, and close-loop processing of eco-friendly materials.
The objectives are:
To assess new products, services, and technologies for business and technical decision-making based on their life cycle cost and environmental impacts
To support the development of green technologies and products
To develop methods and toolkits for fast and reliable quantification of sustainability measures, such as carbon footprint, life cycle cost, and other sustainability indices
Singapore Packaging Star Award 2008 The Singapore Packaging Star Award (SSA) is an annual event held to recognise creativity and innovation of local companies in the packaging industry. In line with the growing environmental awareness in Singapore, a new category, Environmentally Sustainable Packaging was introduced in 2007. AgroResin, a biodegradable packaging material made from renewable agricultural waste, developed by GRENIDEA Technologies in collaboration with SIMTech, won the award for this category in 2008 for its overall environmental performance. The SSA is jointly organised by the Packaging Council of Singapore (PCS) and the Singapore Manufacturer’s Federation (SMa)
AsiaStar Award 2008 The AgroResin entry by GRENIDEA Technologies and SIMTech also won the AsiaStar Consumer Packaging category in the AsiaStar Award 2008, which is held annually at the regional level to recognise packaging excellence of companies in Asia
