Mechatronics Group
The Mechatronics Group (MCH) seeks to address the current and future technology needs of the equipment makers as well as the needs of the industries they serve, in particular the semiconductor, electronics and aerospace maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO). The group supports the industries with expertise in mechatronics and strives to strengthen the industry competitiveness through the technologies in precision motion, electromechanical modules and assistive robotics. The activities of the group aim to fulfill the institute’s missions of technology development, nurturing scientists and engineers and helping the industries through project collaborations. In technology development, the group carries out research in technologies critical in enabling future manufacturing systems. Besides new technology development, the group supports the industry with solutions in the areas of machine improvement and process automation. The group conducts workshops and courses in the areas of precision machine design as part of its efforts in technology transfer to industry. The group collaborates with local and overseas universities to enhance the understanding of the fundamental issues in its research areas. The group works closely with other groups and programmes within SIMTech, in particular, the Product and Equipment Innovation & Development Programmes in providing total solutions to customers.
