The sprinting human icon represents the human capital - manpower development while the red "i" is a symbol of intellectual and industrial capital. Its success with the industry is denoted by the red star. Together, the 3 capitals are fused into a dynamic figure "15", illustrating 15 years of R&D partnership with the manufacturing industry.

What's Up

To celebrate this milestone, several events involving industry participation are organised:

SIMTech Annual Manufacturing Forum 2008 (AMF'08) on 18 January 2008

The AMF is one of SIMTech's ongoing efforts to engage industry. With a strong technology focus, the Forum is targeted at industry leaders to discuss issues and trends facing the manufacturing industry. The highlight of the flagship manufacturing Forum is the Annual Manufacturing Lecture (AML) where prominent industry leaders are invited to speak and provide critical technological insights and directions for captains of the industry. The AMF also includes an expert-panel discussion forum and parallel technical sessions. The theme of AMF'08 is Medical Technology or Medtech industry.

Opening of PE-COI on 22 or 23 April 2008

The PE-COI (Precision Engineering Centre of Innovation) is a national effort hosted by SIMTech and supported by all A*STAR research institutes and other institutes of higher learning. It offers a broad spectrum of technologies and manpower training targeted to the manufacturing needs of the PE industry. Customers and partners of the PE industry, many of whom are leading international companies, will also benefit from a technologically savvy and more competitive supporting industry base in Singapore.

The PE-COI provides direct support to Singapore SMEs through an infrastructure consisting of technical manpower, equipment, and IT for manufacturing whereby industry can leverage on the facilities to accelerate the development of new processes and products, or upgrading technology know-how.
